Aluminum foam panel, a new concept metal material, is foamed in sponge shape after melting aluminum ingot with various chemical ingredients. It has many pore cell inner structures. It is a cellular structure consisting of solid aluminum which contains a large volume of gas-filled pores. The pores can be sealed (closed cell foam), or can form an interconnected network (open cell foam).
Closed Cell Aluminum Foam Panel
For the production of foamed aluminum, AL powder is mixed with a product releasing gas at higher temperature and then compacted. This foaming agent is placed into a mold form and heated up until the agent starts to foam. Immediately thereafter the mold is taken out of the furnace andcooled off, so the aluminum foam part is frozen in shape. The outcome of this process is a closed cell aluminum foam showing a thin casting skin on the surface.
Pores inside are sealed and blocked from each other.
